George Rose
George Rose is a Melbourne-based artist best known for large-scale murals and vibrant use of colour.
After an initial education in design, George completed formal training at ANU School of Art before embarking on a full-time career as a muralist.
Her work is rooted in gestural mark-making, often recreated at scale intertwining with endemic botanicals and personal source material. Exploring the fragility of nature, she balances a combination of hard edges with bold undulating colours and texture. Her work frequently showcases endangered indigenous flora and fauna, utilising the expansive size of each building as a canvas to transform the micro into a macro-scale.
George has undertaken commissions for a range of clients, from museums such as Musée Pierre-Noël de Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, France and STRAAT Museum, Amsterdam to global media businesses such as Instagram and TikTok. Beyond commissioned work, she actively participates in the mural festival circuit, receiving invitations to paint in various countries. Her murals now adorns walls worldwide in Australia, USA, Asia and Europe.
